This mermaid tail shaped area is where air begins to sink away from the Equator and into the North Equatorial Belt where the interaction creates a hotspot. This area is also interesting because the South Equatorial Belt doesn't have the same features. Does part of the process still happen there but the Great Red Spot's periodical passes disrupt said process along the way?
